Manoa Valley Theater Redesign
The redesign of the Manoa Valley Theater gives audience a feel of a grand entrance. The main ramp brings people right into the building and creates a division between the lounge and theater. The curves of the building encircle and embrace it. Whereas the skin of the building wraps around, but gives pockets for viewing. The skin is also intended to improve ventilation, thermal insulation, and noise insulation. Gravel is used to create respectful paths weaving throughout the cemetery. The sound and feel of a person’s footsteps on the gravel path is a subconscious indicator of entering a different space. |
